The UN… Not what they say but what they do.

Sometimes things that seem like a greater good on the outside, have a much darker potential inside. Take for example the United Nations, and so many of their affiliates. On the outside or at first glance, things like Global sustainability research or Agenda 21 seem like good and noble undertakings. But look at the actual documents and then the way they are being implemented, and we may get a different picture.

A one world government sounds all wonderful but is it the government we want? Socialism sounds like a fine idea but is it truly a government for the people?

You run down the list of agencies in the UN who will be interacting and changing things in the various countries of the world and you will find a great number of experts from all fields one can imagine. And although they are considered experts, do they have our best interests in mind or those of their stated agendas? After all they are not voted in to their position, nor are they even appointed by our governments elected officials. So who can say that this or that expert from another country is able to grasp a situation in a country which may give extenuating circumstance to a proposed new legislation or action.

Say he is to integrate new environmental laws to coincide with those of the UN, and finds they are not applicable or even effective in a given country? Will he be more obligated to the UN or the people he is supposed be there to help. Well he wasn’t appointed by that countries government, and not elected. In fact the only oversight they have is from the UN itself. We cannot refuse their plan or it will be a violation of UN agreements. If we say no to them we are listed as a rogue nation or receive sanctions or embargoes.

Remember in this country our forefathers made the government into equal branches. That was so we would always have oversight; each one keeps the other in check. The UN’s oversight comes only from within itself. The members are not elected, they have no populace to answer to, and they can and do effect the governments of the world with near impunity. What is the old saying about power? Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

The next time you here of a UN mandate or a proposed legislation or action, remember in a given situation a power will seek to preserve itself before any other considerations. This is true of even elected officials, but you consider this same principle in a governing body of unelected officials and imagine the problems that can arise.

Are they in this for us all still? Or are they in it to preserve themselves? Are their interests still our interests?

For some reason these days questioning the UN or its motives has become a traitorous offense, especially on the liberal side. You want to have a heated argument? Go to a liberal chat room or blog and write anything even questioning the UN and watch the response you get. You will be called all kinds of names, and harassed until you leave or change your tune. I am truly shocked from the behavior of the so-called liberals on anything regarding the UN or its agendas.

Why all the rage over a simple question? Debate is democratic, discussion is the key to understanding, yet from the supposed more flexible, open-minded, socially conscious, and understanding side I see little to none of these traits at all concerning the UN or its policies.

If you have any insight into this trend please share it.

Election 2008 AKA; The evil you know or the evil you don’t know

This election has gotten ugly, and it won’t get any better. The days of candidates running on the issues and intelligent debate are long gone, and sadly they won’t be back any time soon. Now it’s a matter of who can scare the hell out of you the most about the other guy. So little time is spent on the issues it’s hard to know what the real issues are in America. Sure we know the economy is a shambles, the war is a mess, and this administration lies, but what about gun control or the schools? I know the war and economy are the more pressing problems and should be addressed first, but both candidates seem to be avoiding everything else.

For instance do any of us know what Obama thinks on immigration, or John McCain’s’ views on jobs going overseas? These are issues as well yet they seem to be more interested in winning than doing a good job. This tells me one thing for sure; in four years, no matter who wins they will then be more interested in keeping their job than doing their job well. I know I know, it’s nothing new, but at least before they acted like they cared about what they were doing. They used to make us believe they were trying.

The media is probably the number one cause of this but who really knows for sure. I mean do they act this way because of the media or does the media do this because they act this way? Wow, that can give me a headache. I got to cut this short tonight, but I just hope one of these ding-a-lings can convince of something sooner or later. I’m about to lose faith in the whole system. Night folks!

9/11 Seven years later.

I have been trying to avoid mentioning the significance of this day. Not because I don’t remember or because I don’t care, but because it is so difficult for me. That is a selfish way to avoid an uncomfortable situation, and I feel selfishness is one of the biggest problems in the world. So for me to avoid this day is an even greater wrong than forgetting about it. Its called accountability, and it’s relatively unheard of these days; but as I know about accountability that makes me even more accountable for my actions or the lack them. For a blogger to preach about accountability in our government and then avoid such where he himself is concerned, is inexcusable. I am terribly sorry for the late post on this my friends; it is my own desire to maintain my comfort level that has brought this about.

On September 11th of the year 2001, on a bright and clear Tuesday morning at 8:45 am, the world became a much smaller place. I say that because until then I knew without question that the problems of the Muslim world did not affect me or my family and friends. Their troubles were exactly that, and my section of this vast planet was unaffected by their beliefs or petty disputes. Sure some of them were professing their hatred for us, but that was over there, and they most assuredly only a small portion of a much larger group of people. After all, I knew some Muslims and they were not trying to do me in. Obviously there were a few extremists ruining things for good Muslims the world over. And that was how I believed until 8:45 am.

At 8:45 am a hijacked passenger jet, American Airlines Flight 11 out of Boston hit the north tower of the World Trade Center. At 8:55 my wife called me and asked me turn on the TV, because she heard there was an accident in New York and it had something to do with a plane. I was half asleep (I worked 2nd shift then) but I got up and went to the TV and the first thing I saw was a flaming hole in the side of the tower. Telling my wife what I saw and that it was defiantly a plane that hit it, according to channel 8 news anyway and trying my best to take it all in, we began to speculate on how a plane could accidently hit such a large building. After a few minutes we watched in horror as a second plane hit the other tower. I immediately told her what I saw and at that moment we both knew it was not an accident.

At 9:03 am a second hijacked airliner, United Airlines Flight 175 also out of Boston, crashes into the south tower of the World Trade Center. At this point we were in shock. The word actually doesn’t do it justice as it was something I have never felt before or since. My wife and I were speechless for several minutes, until she asked me if I thought there might be more. I was dumbstruck; what if there were more? What would I do? Should I go get the kids from school? Anyone who could do this could just as easily attack a school or nuclear power plant. These and so many other frightening thoughts raced through my head in a flash. Somehow I managed to tell her that I will call the schools and get them ASAP, and for her to stay at work until we know more.

We hung up and I began to call the schools, my fears grew as I found their lines were all too busy to take any more calls. At this moment my 2 year old daughter came walking into my bedroom rubbing sleep from eyes and asking,” Can I watch cartoons in your room with you?” My fear suddenly disappeared and my dad instinct took over. First I need to protect my youngest and then find out about my other two. So that is what I did; I gave her the living room TV and told her to stay right there, then I began calling the school again.

Keeping one eye on the news and on eye on my daughter I called my wife back and gave her the situation on the school, and asked if she could call as well. She agreed and as soon as I hung up the phone rang and I was overjoyed to hear the voice of my oldest child telling me that she and her brother were alright and they were in the school gymnasium. I felt the world lift from my chest as I asked her what she new and if she wanted to come home. She replied, “why?” I knew then that she didn’t know exactly what was going on and that was probably for the best right now. She said her teacher let her use a cell phone to call home, and that there was an accident in New York. I told her I loved her and to look after her brother until I come for them. I then talked to the teacher and thanked her for her thoughtfulness. She explained the situation and advised me to keep the kids there until we knew more and I agreed.

At 9:43 am American Airlines Flight 77 crashes into the Pentagon. I had just walked back into my room when the news flashed to the Pentagon. Oh My God! I thought as I saw the gaping hole in the side of the building. 3buildings and 3 planes what’s next? I called my wife and gave her the information I had, she explained they had brought a TV in from the conference room and where watching it now. I thought, okay, we are good now we can get information, and assess the situation equally thereby making our decisions more quickly. We agreed that the older children were safe where they were for the time being, and that we should each stay where we are until the situation changes.

At 10:10 am United Airlines Flight 93 crashes in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, southeast of Pittsburgh. This was most assuredly another attempted hijacking I thought. Surely either the hijacking failed in disaster or the Air Force shot it down to prevent another catastrophe. One thing stuck in my mind though; this was not the act of one or two wakos, but the work of a well organized group with no problem killing innocents to make their point.

At 10:05 am the south tower of the World Trade Center collapses and at 10:28 am The World Trade Center’s north tower collapses. Minutes before the first tower fell from the angle shown I could see people falling from the upper levels; this was immediately changed to another camera. I was completely numb from what I had already experienced that day; all I could do was watch silently in reverence to the visions before me. After seeing the second tower fall I ran to the living room and grabbed my daughter in hug to end all hugs.

That is all I wish to share with you on this, the rest is mine to contemplate; just as it is and should be with all of us. Do the best thing you can do for yourself today; hug your wife and kids, kiss your best girl (or guy), or whatever makes you feel better about the world.
We are all as different as can be in so many ways; maybe for one day we can embrace all that makes us alike. Maybe for one day this world can get smaller again, but this time for the right reasons.

In closing I want to say I do not hate Muslims, Arabs, or anyone else as a group. I will continue to treat each person as their behavior would warrant, be they black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Arab or Jew. I will reserve judgment solely for those who do or plan to do harm to me, my family, and my country.

However, if you do plan harm, harbor hate, or attempt violence to even the least of us, all I’m going to say to you is;
“come get some”. We may be separated here by party affiliations, religion, race and creed, we may also be complacent and lazy at times, but do not mistake any of this for a weakness of spirit or lack of strength. We are the sleeping giant that Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto of the Japanese navy referred to when he said, “I fear we have awoken the sleeping giant” shortly after the attack on pearl harbor. Nothing will unite a group of individuals into an army of one faster than when an outsider comes in and attacks.

To those responsible for 9/11, you will be found and you will be held accountable, in this life or the next. What will you do if upon standing before Allah in the afterlife he asks you why you killed so many in his name? What if the things taught to you were nothing but the twisted ideals of a would-be messiah possessed by his own fears and hatred? What will you say? Will you point to the one who told you Gods plan and will? Will God then say to you, “it’s okay, you were led astray by evil” or will he cast you to same fate as the demonic messiah? What if you were wrong about Gods will? What will his wrath be like? If man was made in Gods own image and man can hate and kill this well, what level of hate could God bring forth? I wouldn’t want to know, and I bet you wouldn’t either.

That is all from me tonight; good luck, good night, and Godspeed to all our brave troops out there.

Smear politics 2008

Well in case you didn’t notice yet it’s an election year. You can tell because the smear books and party-purchased authors are selling millions of books based on BS. They call them factual and informative, but all they really do is spout off innuendo and party propaganda to a generation of ditto-heads that believe anything they are told first or the loudest. The latest is a smear book by the same guy who co-authored the book a few years ago about John Kerry’s war record. You may remember the “swift boat veterans for peace” who were for the truth even if they had to make it up themselves.

Now I’m not going to name the author or his books in this post because he is not going to get any help from me, and neither are his ridiculous novels. That being said he writes for a website called worlddaily.net (I’m not going to link to them either); in my opinion it’s just a conservative trash disposal posing as a political website. The author has a PHD in political science from Harvard but seems to have trouble discerning fact from utter nonsense, and has the same affliction bothering so many right wing talk radio and TV hosts. The affliction I refer to is what I like to call “Anti-social, Homophobic, overt or Latent Syndrome” or “ASHOLS” for short. This disease affects Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and nearly everyone working at Fox News, and will most likely be considered an epidemic by the CDC very soon. For brevity’s sake I will hence forth call these people “ASHOLS”.

These “ASHOLS” have been a thorn in my side since GW’s first election and continue to get my Ire up every time they speak, post, or write. These “ASHOLS” must be stopped at all costs or our society will be forced to conform to the conservative mindset or perish. If we continue to tolerate their brand of social-political repression the intelligence levels across the country will drop until we all talk like GW. “Bushim’s” will replace properly formed sentences, and truth will be reduced to what we hear on Fox News.

This is why I am forming a group dedicated to the abolition of these fear and hate mongering snake oil salesman in $10,000 dollar suits. The group will be called the “Anti-ASHOLS Society” or A-ASHOLSS for short. So get ready and practice your acronyms and abbreviations while I get the ball rolling on this. I’ll get back soon and let you know my progress. A-ASHOLSS unite!

Obama, McCain, Paris Hilton and the race card?

Did anyone else see the McCain campaign commercial that compares Senator Obama to Paris Hilton? Wow, I didn’t know he was that big yet. I don’t think anyone in McCain’s camp really understands the way publicity works in this country. If you call someone a rock star or celebrity on TV then the next thing you know they are one. OK let me get this straight; he is too popular to be president? Or is he so busy being popular he isn’t trying to be president? Well then exactly what are you doing with your commercial? Isn’t that John McCain’s face and name plastered all over the screen?

The presidential election is a popularity contest in the truest sense, no matter how you look at it. Who wins? The guy who gets the most votes, come Election Day. How do they get the most votes? By making themselves popular. Paint it with any brush you want, it is as much a popularity contest as it is anything else. Millions of dollars are spent on TV ads by both sides and one has the nerve to call the other a prima donna? Sorry but neither of you should say anything about the other where this is concerned.

As if this nonsense were not enough, McCain’s camp claimed Obama was playing the “race card” after he said the Republicans would try and scare voters away from voting for him, because his face didn’t look like the ones on the dollar bills. All I can say to this is; if he wasn’t playing it with his remark, he will now because you threw it in there. You know how to spot the racist in a crowded room? He’s the first one to mention race either positively or negatively. There are two kinds of racists in the world; the one who is proud of it and the one who wants to be proud of it. In my opinion John fell right into a trap. They baited it with a slight remark in the hopes he would walk into it and walk right in he did. Now the door is open, and they didn’t have to touch the dirty doorknob.

And I thought this election would be boring.

Where’s the fact?

Fox and MSN, MSNBC, What in the heck?

Okay, I don’t get a lot of things in this world, but this is pathetic. I went to Fox news’ website and watched some video clips from Bill O’Reilly’s OFactor show. I am not a fan of Bill O or any other extreme right or left wing commentator, but I catch as much of their nonsense as I can for my blogs.(sounds a bit hypocritical I know, but a necessary evil) While watching I was forced to view ads from MSN before each clip. I know that ads are also unavoidable and accept that we don’t always have total control in what is shown. However, if I have a show that makes it a point to attack MSNBC on their views and opinions, and show ads for MSN on the website for that show, I am sending mixed signals to say the least.

To call one network the devil and show their ads is hypocritical and undermines your credibility. When we want to be taken at our word, we must act as if our word means something to ourselves first. Otherwise, our words will seem like lip service and fail to inspire even our own target audience. Fox news does have the power and money to say no when they need to, and show some integrity within their own website. Just like I can say no when given the chance to spout off BS to up my page rank, or speak from my own conscience and hope it will be enough.

I feel all news networks are suspect at this point. All of them play to an audience handed to them by their respective corporations. The views of those corporations are pushed on us while they claim to be unbiased, and the facts are just interpretations with questionable reasoning. The only way for us to get unbiased news anymore, is to collect as many sources as possible and filter out the BS.
