Exercising my rights.
In the last Nine years, I’ve noticed a shift toward A ‘If your not with me your against me’, mentality in the US government. Years ago A person could make a criticism and not be a traitor. And statements of differing opinion, were the necessities of freedom. But now, any questioning of our governments leaders or their practices, leads to persecution. And through this, the rights of the people are being stripped away.
So in an attempt to visualize this, I have made A special page to this blog. A page with an ever growing list of things I feel prove my point. Feel free to post anything you feel should be apart of this list. And if enough agree, I will make it a permanent part of the list. Please no posts with ignorant, sweeping statements that have no real point. And for the record I’m neither liberal or conservative, just a concerned American.
Foul governing list.
- In it’s original form, the right to free speech is a double edged sword. In as it protects the statements made earlier. As well as a racist on a talk show. True today as long as I’m not talking about my government. Then it becomes treason.
- Instead of a debate on issues, political campaigns have become character attacks. If these were based on anything real, that may harm us or our government. They would go to the press or that person’s superior. And not from a campaign commercial.
- There is a black or white brand of politics in place now. You can no longer partially agree with a position any more. Your either with me or against me is the order of the day.
- A lot of double standards are displayed. In one breath they oppose homosexuality and at the same time have homosexual scandals, involving high ranking officials.
- Homosexual marriage is now a concern of our government. Frankly, in my humble opinion, to even suggest we need legislation opposing this is a breeches the separation of church and state.
- Privately owned businesses directly involved in enforcing government policy. So many ways this is a bad idea, I don’t know where to start.
- As history has shown raising minimum wage raises cost of living. And allowing corporations to price gouge negates any tax refund.
- Worrying about the environment, does not make me a tree hugger.
- Rights can be trampled in the name of national security.
- The executive branch who has managed to usurp power. By the questionable use of emergency powers, when there is no crisis. Only an opportunity to advance ones own agenda.
